Freya

Support Services Manager

Hi I’m Freya!

I have just graduated from university with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology & Criminology, and I am currently completing an MSc in Psychology.

I joined the Say it Loud team after discovering the organisation through social media after experiencing a life-changing encounter myself and they have helped me so much!

I started at Say It Loud due to a university placement, I then applied for the role of Deputy Head and I have just recently been promoted to Head of Support Mentors. I felt this would be a great position for me to help the fight against sexual violence as well as the misogyny which still resonates through our society - something I have always been extremely passionate about.

Ending the stigmas in rape culture is something of huge importance and Say it Loud is helping us to do that every day. I am here to help in any way that I can with survivors and I am privileged to be able to be part of this amazing movement!

Julie

Content Creator Manager

Hi, I’m Julie and I’m the Head of the Media Team at Say It Loud! I’m currently a fourth year Journalism student from Glasgow, and through my studies I have become aware that there is a lack of coverage on issues such as sexual assault and gender based violence in traditional media. I think it’s so important that Say It Loud spreads awareness and creates discussions around these issues to help break down stigmas and educate individuals, whilst additionally providing a safe space for survivors. I am so so proud of the work that we do here, and I’m so excited and passionate to be working alongside such an amazing team that helps so many people!

Alex

Journalism Manager

Hello! My name is Alexandria. I'm the Head of the Blogging team. I've been a content creator, writer and Editor for several years. I’ve always been somewhat vocal about injustice, but recent compounded personal experiences with sexual violence drove me to channel my passion for writing into advocacy for fellow survivors. I write about sexual violence, trauma recovery and mental health in order to spread the awareness that I believe is still very much needed. Through everything I write, my purpose is always to help survivors feel empowered and validated. My hope is to also expose a new perspective to readers who may not fully understand trauma or oppressive societal attitudes that only further the prevalence of rape culture.

Amelia

Content Creator

Hey, I'm Amelia and I’m a part of the Media Team at Say It Loud! A bit of background on me; I'm a full-time brand & marketing manager working in the health and fitness industry and in my free time, I love being creative! The first time I came across the Say It Loud page, I was incredibly moved by the sentiment. I wish that myself and others had access to a platform like this when we were younger. We were not educated, we were not supported and we were not heard. So, when I saw the chance to join the team, I took it. I want to help create a safe place for others and I wish to help YOU to feel heard. Sexual assault is a social injustice we see day to day, but so long as we have a voice, we can use it to eradicate rape culture and the stimage that surrounds it!

Daniella

Content Creator

Hi I’m Daniella, and I’m part of the Media Team at Say It Loud! I have a background in HR & Recruitment and have previously studied a Business Diploma. I also have a background as a Fashion content creator, working with a variety of fashion companies on social media, creating and promoting their brands. I have been following Say It Loud on Instagram for quite a while now and I absolutely loved the posts I saw. After going through my own difficult experiences, they made me feel so validated and understood. I could see it was an amazing organisation and I think it is so important to spread awareness about the suffering sexual survivor’s go through, as well as validating their feelings and experiences and providing trauma support. I think it is really important for us to all come together and remove the stigma around speaking out about sexual violence and the long term effects that it has on us. I am looking forward to joining the amazing team and putting my social media and marketing skills to use, and creating educational and informative posts for the Say It Loud platform, whilst also showing this is a safe space for survivors.

Maria

Content Creator

Hi, I’m Maria and I’m part of the media team at Say It Loud. I am currently in my third year of studying Law at the University of Manchester. Through my studies, I have been exposed to the legal and social injustices that survivors of sexual assault face and want to help eradicate rape culture and the stigma surrounding it. I believe that educating and increasing awareness is vital to dismantle the misconceptions surrounding a subject that is still taboo and I hope to use my knowledge and gain the necessary skills to help survivors around me feel supported. I am honoured to be part of such an inspiring team that creates a safe space for survivors to be heard.

Lauren

Content Creator

Hi, I’m Lauren and I’m a 3rd year Visual Communication student at Leeds Arts University. Graphic design, social media management and content creation are the areas I have experience in. I love creating content for important issues to help create a positive change in the world. Therefore, I’m honoured to join the Say It Loud social media team.

It has taken me a while to realise that I have experienced sexual assault in the past because I wasn’t educated on it at the time. That’s why this platform is so important and I want to give everyone the knowledge that I never had! I am at my happiest when helping people, my goal is to reach as many people as I can through our social media posts because everyone deserves to say it loud and be heard.

Emma

Content Creator

Hi, I’m Emma. I am a recent English Literature and Language graduate of the University of Liverpool. I am extremely passionate about activism and making space to speak openly about stigmatised topics. Sexual violence is not uncommon and creating the conversation allows a safer society for survivors like myself to recover.

My dissertation looked at the importance and issues of the portrayal of sexual violence within dramatic literature. Sexual violence is not always portrayed correctly in mainstream media and Say It Loud! Is a safe space in which we can separate fact from fiction. I am incredibly grateful to be invited to the Say It Loud! Team and strive to help give voices to those in need.

Hi! My name is Lauren, and I am a final year linguistics student at the University of Warwick. I am extremely passionate about learning from, and educate others, about stigmatised topics.

I first heard of Say It Loud when a close friend shared the platform as a reach out. I was struggling with my experience of sexual violence and this page made me immediately felt part of a collective group.

By joining the blogging team, and being a part of the wider team Say It Loud team,  I hope to expose a different lens to readers who may not know about the extensive nature of trauma, oppressive attitudes, and societal issues which contribute to the prevalence of sexual violence. I have been passionate about using my academics to voice and further explore women's issues and gender-based oppression and violence.

I feel honoured to be joining such an incredible team whose work is essential in breaking the stigmas associated with sexual violence and in creating a safe space for survivors to feel empowered, educated and heard!
